Why We Built This

We kept hearing the same frustration from buyers

Barndominium Financing is published by the team at Contractors Choice Agency, which works with contractors and trade businesses nationwide — including many builders who specialize in post-frame and metal-building construction. Over years of working alongside builders on the ground, one pattern kept showing up: buyers who had a clear vision for their barndominium and a builder ready to go, but no idea how to actually finance the project.

They'd call their regular bank and get a confused "we don't really do that." They'd hear conflicting things about FHA, VA, and USDA programs. They'd get an appraisal back lower than expected and not understand why. None of this is because barndominiums are a bad investment or a fringe idea — it's because the mortgage industry's standard tools were built around conventional stick-built homes, and barndominium financing sits slightly outside that box.
